Do You Remember When?
Do you remember a childhood when you could play in the front yard, walk to the library or ride a bicycle in the neighborhood? Was your childhood a simpler, safer time?
Today's youth are growing up in a very different world. The structure and patterns of family life in America have undergone dramatic changes. Families have become increasingly mobile and often function without assistance from extended family members. The divorce rate remains very high. More children are born to unmarried, as well as teen mothers than ever before, and raised in single-parent households. Death and destruction are brought into the home by television, video games and the Internet. Childhood obesity is at an all time high in this country. Youth are confronted with dangerous influences, like drug use and gangs, and come face to face with violence in their schools and neighborhoods. Many aren't sure where their next meal will come from.
Young people need to be surrounded by people who care, appreciate and accept them. This support can come from family members or from other adults, such as Club staff, neighbors, or teachers. Youth need to have a place where they are physically and emotionally safe; a place with structure and clear limits.

Be the one to make a difference in the life of a child by providing him or her with a safe, secure and stimulating environment through the Boys & Girls Club.

Your investment gives the Boys & Girls Club of Maui that chance to develop a generation of young Americans who are productive and caring citizens. They will become our future community and leaders.
